Computer tape

Computer tape
  Refer instead to Data tape.
  A magnetic medium for storing data from a computer. It has two main uses in automation:
  Backing up programs and data to either make room on the computer for newer data or to protect the bank against the risk that the machine and its data becoming unusable.
  Exchanging data with another computerised system (a clearing house or a batch interfaced local banking system).
